This pendant lamp by Casa Padrino is the big sister of the classic workshop lamp. Above a shallow metal dome of 77 cm diameter sits a solid suspension block with a ring and wing screws, while eight clamp catches hold the lower collar at the rim. Everything about it is visibly bolted rather than concealed.

The character comes from the surface and the weight. The metal is kept in a matt zinc tone, slightly clouded; at 27.5 kg the lamp hangs noticeably heavy and still. It has the presence of a salvaged original with a grown patina.

The wide dome spreads the light broadly downwards. That makes it suitable where a single point would be too little: above a long table, a kitchen island, a reception counter or a shop counter. Because of its size it needs space around it; under a low ceiling it presses down.

In restaurants, bars, lofts and showrooms it often takes the role of the single focal point; a second striking piece of furniture beside it is then usually too much.
